I think one of the best things about this kind of storytelling is that going AROUND the bridge is a perfectly sensible option, but dramatic reason states that one must encounter every challenge along the way.

Also the river appears to be small enough, you could probably jump across.
Yeah, fencing is more complicated than that.
why fence when you can burn him and the bridge to ash.
It’s a stone bridge tho 
i meant the brown part, which i assume is wood.
To me it looks like clay or dirt

yeah. looking at it closer it isn’t burnable. guess i’ll just burn the bandit
