Almost there, almost to comic 500!
panting: yay. Almost made it
This is perhaps my favorite joke panel from Swords, and I even mentioned a Stabacus in passing to a player in my D&D game, who has since been dead set on acquiring one. I even made stats for this thing, and I am quite proud of it. Enjoy.
Stabacus: Very rare weapon (Shortsword), requires attunement
Counting Kills: This blade grants a +1 to attack and damage rolls made with it. For every creature that the wielder has killed within the last minute (challenge rating 1/8 minimum), the the bonus is increased by 1, up to +5.
Mathematical Precision: There are 4 functions that this blade can perform, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division. The stabacus can gain the bonuses of only one function at a time. Upon the completion of a long rest, the wielder can change the function of the Stabacus to another one of the functions. Alternatively, the wielder can change the function as a bonus action by expending 5 gold. The function can only be changed in this way twice per dawn. The functions are as follows:
Addition: Add more power to your strikes! The attack and damage modifier from âCounting Killsâ is increased to +2 by default, and gains an additional +2 from each kill, instead of +1.
Subtraction: Subtract from your enemiesâ strength! Whenever you hit an enemy with this weapon, their movement speed is reduced by 10 ft until the end of their next turn. For each additional +1 bonus granted by âCounting Killsâ, their movement speed is further reduced by 5 ft.
Multiplication: Multiply your weaponâs damage! If the wielder rolls an 18 or 19 on an attack roll with this weapon, that attack becomes a critical hit. If you kill a creature with a critical hit, they are counted as 2 creatures for the purpose of âCounting Killsâ.
Division: Divide and conquer! Before making an attack with this weapon, the wielder can choose to target a creature within 10 ft of the original target with separate attack, dealing physic damage instead of piercing. If this attack is taken and either attack hits, the total damage taken from the damage roll and from the wielderâs damaging ability modifier is halved, but the damage bonus from "Counting Killsâ is not.
