I’d definitely choose the first one, not only because it’s the only one you can intentionally increase it’s power without limit by doing something good for you, but also I’m a huge nerd who learned to read at age 3, so it’d already be pretty strong when I first get it, plus it’s perfect motivation to read all my unread books.
Absolutely the first one, yes. Although then the problem becomes balancing your time between reading vs. studying the blade…
Hmm. I guess reading fencing manuals would be one obvious hack. The older ones can be quite short on text and reliant on illustrations, too - looking at you, I.33 - which yields an optimal ratio of time spent : books read!
It depends on scaling. How many books do you need to read for the first one to be as strong as the third one is when you’re exactly across the planet from your home? And if the quest is into another dimension, surely the third sword will be even stronger? Also we should give copies of the second to every politician and make them duel each other with them.
