Swords | DCCXLI ~ Vision Of The Bloodstained King

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://swordscomic.com/comic/DCCXLI/

Oh no, has King Tapir met his match? The title would indicate that Bread Knight is the new king. Of course King Tapir could have abdicated…

Considering that it’s a vision OF the bloodstained king and not the bloodstained king’s vision, I think the monster is the bloodstained king. It also fits it more cause of the obvious bloodshed it’ll cause, based off the skulls on the ground. We also know that Bread Knight won’t become king because we saw the future when Endless Chaos is terrorizing Hiltshire and Rapier Tapir was still king. 'Til the demon squashed him, that is.

Ah, very true, you’re correct on all accounts! Although, is this bloodshed yet to come, or something that has already happened, somewhere else? Maybe this is the king Bread Knight needs to defeat in order to gain a kingdom seperate from Hiltshire?

The skulls look like the masks/heads of the gods and demigods (I know they’re masks for the demigods, like Travel Goblin, but I’m not sure about the actual gods themselves) and most of them are still alive, so I think it’ll happen in the future. Also cause visions in media are normally of the future rather than the present. You could be right about Bread Knight fighting this guy, especially since he seemingly had this vision right after Baltad told him to kill a king, but Baltad also told Bread Knight to claim the crown of Hiltshire, not to mention that he had always planned for Hiltshire to go to his champion as shown by his conversation with one of the other gods that King Hilton overheard, so it’s unlikely. Would be nice if killing this guy was an alternative but Bread Knight feels like the kind of guy who would outright defy the gods and Baltad loves his prophecies, so I think it’s unlikely that either will bend a knee here.

So, I don’t know if it’s intentional, but the creature’s head and the skulls on the ground look like baltad’s head. To me, it looks like this is Baltad’s memory. This could be baltad before he became a god or somthing, considering that it’s possible that Xiphos becomes the replacement of Kargob, who did imply that Baltad can’t be trusted, so we’re getting some backstory for him.

I am surprised no one mentioned this before but bread knights attire in this comic has similar look to the monster, so it might be this monster he is drawing power from

It’s even the same color as the monster’s skin!

I second the theory that we’re seeing a past Baltad, the monster’s head matches his skull and Baltad is also stated in his bio to be the god of fire and destruction, which would line up with this imagery here.
