I’m a bit confused as to what happened. Did pest sprout just stand there doing nothing, or did he panic when he saw quest was scared and turned to ask what to do? What here conveyed that pest was being unhelpful?

I think Pest Sprout just realized he can’t kill Quest Sprout because Quest Sprout is too cute.
